JavaScript: The Good Parts — Book Review

Crockford tells us how to avoid the pitfalls and write reliable code using the language of the Web, which is not going away soon. The 5 hour Web Series by Yahoo on YouTube by the same name is even better. Crockford is a tech entertainer. Lectures are arresting and insightful.

This is NOT a beginners’s book. Kind of like a sacred book for JS lovers. It’s a super thin book. 176 pages. No frills. Every page is filled with valuable matter.

It’s a book that brings out the intricacies of the language. With ES6/7 coming of age, this stuff is pretty dated. But I had never read an analysis of the language like this before.

I highly recommend you search for it and watch it now (it’s on YouTube currently, under the title “JavaScript: The Good Parts”).

The book is Crockford’s advice. You are entitled to your own.

After this book you should head on to “You Don’t Know JS” by Kyle Simpson. You will get a contrarian view to Crockford. Both books are intellectually stimulating.
